I am an artist and writer––a lover of both images and words––living and working in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. In addition to serving as a Senior Writer at Sotheby’s and the Guggenheim Museum, I have written on art, architecture, and garden design for several national publications and authored two artist monotypes, Richard Segalman: Black and White | Muses, Magic & Monotypes, and Elyn Zimmerman | Sculpture, both published by The Artist Book Foundation. In 2016, I designed, wrote, and published Clouds of Old Naples, which featured a series of essays and 100 of my cloud photographs. Large format versions of my work on dibold aluminum have been shown and sold at galleries in Naples, Florida and Boston, MA.
My novel Ensoulment was awarded the Thomas E. Kennedy Fiction Award by Serving House Books in January, 2025 and will be published by the press in November, 2025.
In 2020, I curated an exhibition of the pastels and montotypes of artist Richard Segalman for the Artist Book Foundation gallery, which is located on the campus of MassMOCA in North Adams, MA. Among the work on view were prints featured in my monograph on the artist. A painter, photographer and printmaker, I have exhibited my work in several U.S. cities, and in Waterford, Ireland and Venice, Italy where I have been an artist-in-residence at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia and at Venezia Contemporanea.
I am a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, where I focused on literature and studio art, and also of Stanford University where I earned my Master’s degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. I have studied design, painting, and printmaking at the School for Visual Arts in NYC, the Silvermine School of the Arts in New Canaan, CT, Artform in Dunsmore East, Ireland, and the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, CT, where my work was selected for several Monothon exhibitions. I am a member of the U.K.-based Cloud Appreciation Society, which has featured my cloud photographs, drawings, and paintings on its website.
